Quality
Matters Pilot Project
Chemeketa Community College was awarded an incentive grant from the
Oregon Community College and Workforce
Development Agency (CCWD) to engage in a pilot project focused around
continuous improvement of online classes. The project is based on grant
awarded from the U.S. Department Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary
Education (FIPSE) to Maryland Online (MOL), a statewide consortium of
19 community colleges and senior institutions. The model is designed
to improve the quality of online courses by establishing a peer-reviewed
quality assurance certification process.
The goal of our pilot project is to implement this faculty-centered
peer review process using the tools developed by MOL and determine how
it may be used or adapted for our online courses. The scope of the project
involves training up to 50 college faculty and staff, certifying 20
Chemeketa faculty members as peer course reviewers, and reviewing ten
Chemeketa online classes. The pilot project will be complete June 30,
2007. Participation in the process is voluntary.
Applications to become a peer course reviewer or to have your course
reviewed are available below.
