Spring and Summer Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) Workshops

This workshop is part of the eLearning Quality Project (eQ).  We are happy to announce that nationally recognized trainer Mary Wells of Quality Matters will be returning to Chemeketa to facilitate the Improving Your Online Course workshop. Past workshops by Mary have received rave reviews from faculty. Two face to face four-hour sessions will be held during the week of May10^th and will be complete with food and rich dialog with peers. Two IYOC Online Workshops will be conducted starting June 28^th and July 12^th. Each online workshop requires two weeks to complete.

As part of the eQ Project, the IYOC training is provided to all online faculty. All online instructors who have not previously completed the IYOC workshop are expected to attend. Instructors who have QM Recognized courses may attend, but are not required to participate. Faculty who have completed the Peer Reviewer, Applying the Rubric, or Building Your Online Course workshops must also participate in this session as the learning outcomes are different. Additional QM training opportunities will be offered in the future.  Dates will be announced as soon as the training is scheduled. 

At the IYOC workshop, participants gain an understanding of the Quality Matters (QM) process, compile examples of best practices in online courses, gather specific ideas to improve their course, and gain affirmation of their course's strengths. Participants work on their own course throughout the workshop.

Upon completion of the Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) workshop, you will be able to:

• Identify the standards of the Quality Matters Rubric as crucial components of a quality online course, and explain each standard’s intention.  
• Use the QM Rubric to review your online course.
• Identify the areas of your online course that map to each of the QM Rubric standards and indicate whether each area is exemplary or in need of improvement.
• Develop a course improvement plan that includes the areas of your course that you plan to improve, a description of how you will improve each of these areas, a list of resources, and a timeline for making these improvements.
